An expanded major terminal gateway connects air to water
Marco Polo Airport lies on the Adriatic and offers a unique transfer between plane and boat. As the main gateway to Venice expansion is much needed. A masterplan layout is proposed anticipating a doubling of capacity from 7mppa to 15mppa by 2020. A second terminal building and structured parking combined with a people mover to connect water services to a new airport city. The existing forecourt structure is converted to check-in and retail functions with reorganised parking and drop off facility.
